Bell has added Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) to its line of MX-9 Adventure helmets. MIPS use a slip-plane design to manage energy from rotational and angular impacts. This is done by using a thin layer inside the helmet to rotate with the intent to slow or reduce the amount of energy transferred to the head. The Adventure Series includes a removable face shield for goggles or a traditional full-face and peaked visor, which is fixed but easy to remove for street riding.
